Irish, Celtic Studies & Folklore / Gaeilge, an Léinn Cheiltigh agus an Bhéaloidis UCD

Friday June 11th, 11am-12pm (Irish Standard Time)

Fáilte! At this session we will take you on a whistle stop tour of Scoil na Gaeilge, an Léinn Cheiltigh agus an Bhéaloidis UCD, for a taste of our four  subjects:

Celtic Civilisation
Early Irish and Celtic Civilisation will take you on an exciting journey through the magnificent civilisation of the Celts, from Iron Age Central Europe to the rich medieval tradition of Ireland and Wales. You will have the chance to learn Old Irish and Middle Welsh, decipher manuscripts and read myths and sagas.

Irish Folklore and Ethnology
The study of folklore (or ethnology) focuses on traditional popular culture, in the past and in the present. As an academic discipline, it involves the exploration of material culture, social tradition, oral literature and popular belief and practice.

Bí linn agus osclófar fuinneog duit ar oidhreacht Ghaelach na tíre seo agus ar an nGaeilge mar mheán cumarsáide.

Irish Studies
Deepen your knowledge of Ireland’s modern society, its history and its rich culture. Irish Studies students will develop their understanding of Irish history, language, literature, archaeology, music, folklore, society and politics.
