Economics, Politics & International Relations, Philosophy
Tuesday June 4th, 9.00pm-4.00pm
Find out what it takes to study Economics, Politics, International Relations, & Philosophy at University. Studying these subjects through a Social Sciences degree provides flexibility of thought and a range of practical, research and analytical skills that make graduates highly employable.
What happens on the day?
Economics – Students will be given an introduction to economics and an outline of the programme in UCD. This will be followed by an interactive session where students will take part in activities to discuss one of economics most important topics – game theory – allowing students to see how economics can help us understand how households, firms or other economic agents make strategic decisions. Students will also be introduced to other important economic topics such as macroeconomics and banking.
Politics & International Relations: In studying politics and international relations, we try to understand what happens, to figure out what should happen, and to determine how this might be realised. The session on Politics and International Relations will explore some of the areas that you can study in UCD. These range from political theory, elections and parliaments to globalisation, development, conflict, and international relations, to mention but some. The session will also highlight the skills that you will develop during your studies and the sorts of options that are open to students who graduate with a politics degree.
