Forestry Summer School

Tuesday June 7th, 10.00am-5.00pm (Irish Standard Time)

For students interested in studying Forestry at UCD.

What happens on the day?

Forestry is the science, art and profession of managing forests. The important role of Forestry to the environment and our economy has received much publicity in recent years and graduates of the Level 8 Forestry Degree in Ireland are in huge demand with excellent career opportunities. Students on this programme discover how the different components of a forest – the trees, soils, water, climate, flora and fauna interact with each other and are affected by human use. Forestry graduates seek to balance environmental, economic and social factors under the ‘Sustainable Forest Management’ remit and is an ideal programme for someone with an interest in science, the environment with a passion for the outdoors.

On arrival the Dean of Agriculture, Prof. Frank Monahan will welcome you and provide an overview of the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science, the various programmes taught at the school and some of the highlights of our programmes such as the opportunity to Study Abroad and Professional Work Experience. You will have an opportunity to hear from some of our current and past students who will share their experience of studying at the school and we will discuss the wide range of career opportunities open to graduates.

During the day you will meet staff from the school and take part in interactive activities relevant to Forestry. Students will also have an opportunity to find out about some of the other programmes on offer at the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science.
